Date: 20th century
This medium-sized oak gateleg table with oval table top is the ideal size for a smaller home; not overwhelmingly bulky and still big enough to be practical. Opened up half way and put against a sofa or wall it could function as a desk, or as a sideboard against a wall when fully folded.
This oak table has been refinished with a very durable satin black varnish and a rustic oak stain. The undersides of the drop leaves have also been painted black to ensure a harmonious look when folded down.
The table is not a true antique but is a modern reproduction. Gateleg tables were first made in England in the 16th century. They are a type of drop-leaf table, meaning they have a fixed section and one or two hinged leaves that can fold down.
Dimensions: 75.5 cm high, 101 x 78 cm table top open, 37 x 78 cm table top folded, 17 kg
Condition: Used and adapted. The table is not in its original form. No damage.
