This stunningly majestic armchair is a rarity indeed! You will not find another one with a Wow factor like this…
The armchair is typical of the eclectic Napoleon III style, displaying ornamental features taken from previous historical styles (just like the contemporary Victorian style in England); in this case the walnut frame has been sculpted with a mix of Louis the XIVth (Baroque) and Louis the XVIth styles (Neo-Classical). The upholstered seat back is topped with a beautifully carved neo-classical ribbon motif; it is attached to the arm rests and seat by fluted columns mounted with finials as well as by a series of baluster shaped spindles. The padded arm rests (manchettes) give away to the fluted arm supports that end in ionic volutes. The fluted tapered front legs have caster wheels, the back legs are saber-shaped.
The armchair has been reupholstered with an azure blue fabric adorned with a palmette motif, adding to the chair’s majestic exotic vibe. The edges have been finished with a black braid trimming.
Dimensions: 92 cm total height, seat: 72 cm wide in widest part, 60 cm deep, 37 cm high. 14.3 kg
Condition: Good condition. Used: the frame has wear & tear marks linked to its antique age (minor scratches or areas of dullness to the surface stain). The piece shows signs of previous restoration and restaining that are more visible on the back of the frame (please see photos). The wheels function perfectly. The fabric is brand new.
