Date: ca early 20th century
A very large attractive bell-shaped ewer with lots of decorative charm and weathering. This kind of ewer is typically Ottoman and was a widely used household object in the Balkans and Turkey. It is made from hand hammered copper that was then coated with a layer of tin. The long handle is also attached to the lid’s hinge mechanism. The gold coloured finial on the top of the lid is not original and can easily be removed. The decoration is limited to simple concentric rings and metal blobs on the handle.
Dimensions: 52 cm high, 25 cm width, 2 kg
Condition: Good but knocks and bumps related to usage and age. Tin is worn thin but this equals nice patination. Soldering repair marks in three places.
