Date: ca. 1930-1960
A pair of very dainty small porcelain candlesticks. The short cream white porcelain body has been embellished with very fine three dimensional flowers with impressive individual petals. The upper and lower rims have been decorated with gilt paint. A wonderful example of what master porcelain makers could achieve in terms of detail…
The makers mark to the base indicates: Fine Bone China, Crown Staffordshire with the crown and scrolls, England. This mark was in use as of the 1930’s till just before 1960. The ‘Est 1801’ refers to the Company’s origins when it was known as the Minerva Works. The Staffordshire Porcelain company itself produced wares between 1889 and 1985.
Dimensions: 5.3 cm high, 9 cm wide base
Condition: Very good. All the petals and flowers are intact with the exception of one little leaf (see photo- you can barely see it). No chips or cracks. Colours and gilding are still vibrant.
